Tzu Chi International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was honoured to welcome British Columbia Minister of Health Josie Osborne and her staff for a school visit on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Located in Vancouver, the College has over 40 years of experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) education and is dedicated to training professional TCM practitioners and acupuncturists. Its programs integrate traditional TCM theory with clinical training, emphasizing patient safety, professional ethics, and a person-centred model of care.
During the visit, Minister Osborne observed a gynaecology class taught by Dr. Athena Li Yi, Nyiam and toured the student teaching clinic, where she learned about students’ clinical training processes, including TCM clinical diagnosis, pattern differentiation, and herbal prescribing. In the student clinic, the Minister sampled a herbal tea prepared by clinical instructor Dr. Calvin Crichton and his students and also visited the College’s herbal pharmacy. The visit concluded with engagement with faculty and students, followed by a meeting with representatives from ATCMA.
The College also shared its contributions to developing a qualified health-care workforce serving British Columbia’s diverse communities. The visit provided an opportunity for dialogue on TCM education, patient safety, and future collaboration. The College reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to public protection and educational excellence.
