Tzu Chi TCM Residency Clinic

Clinic Introduction

Tzu Chi TCM Residency Clinic specializes in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) rehabilitation and pain management for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents. Our team is led by registered TCM practitioners and acupuncturists who graduated from our college. They integrate traditional Chinese medical theories with modern rehabilitation approaches. We tailor comprehensive treatment plans to help you regain your health as efficiently as possible.

Services

  • Post-Accident Rehabilitation
We address common injuries such as whiplash, myofascial pain, and limited joint mobility through acupuncture, tuina (therapeutic massage), cupping, and herbal prescriptions—offering a full range of TCM options.
  • Chronic Pain Management
Our integrative treatment approach effectively alleviates chronic conditions such as neck and shoulder discomfort, lower back pain, and arthritis, helping you restore function and improve your quality of life.
  • Constitutional Health Support
Based on individual constitutions and clinical needs, we design preventive and wellness programs aimed at enhancing immunity and reducing the likelihood of recurrent issues.

Treatment Highlights

  1. Personalized Assessment
We carefully review your health history and body constitution, then develop a treatment plan rooted in TCM principles.
  2. Holistic Care
By integrating the TCM holistic perspective with modern medical insights, we prioritize balance in body, mind, and spirit to support natural healing.
  3. Ongoing Monitoring
Through systematic health record management and regular follow-ups, we adapt treatment protocols to ensure the best possible outcomes.

ICBC Coverage and Assistance

  • Enhanced Care (First 12 Weeks of recovery)
For the first 12 weeks after your crash, you have pre-approved coverage for a variety of treatments to help you recover. You don’t need a referral from a family physician or nurse practitioner, or approval from ICBC, but you will need your Personal Health Number (PHN) and your ICBC claim number
  • Benefit Extension (Recovery Longer Than 12 Weeks)
If your injuries need a longer treatment period, you may qualify for a benefit extension. While you are pending approval, you can still have up to 5 free visit.
  • Focus on Healing: Our goal is to minimize paperwork so you can focus on your recovery. We’ll coordinate as much as possible on your behalf.

What to Expect

When you arrive for your first appointment, one of our TCM practitioners will sit down with you for a consultation to understand your concerns, medical history, and any symptoms you may have. They will then design a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, drawing from acupuncture, tuina (massage), cupping, herbal medicine, and other TCM modalities.

Throughout your sessions, feel free to ask questions or voice any concerns—our aim is to ensure you feel informed and comfortable during every step of the process.

When to Arrive

We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early for your first visit to allow time for any necessary paperwork and a brief review of your health information. This helps us start your appointment on schedule and gives you the full benefit of your consultation and treatment.

What to Prepare

  • ICBC Info: If you have an active claim, bring your ICBC information so we can set up direct billing on your behalf.
  • Past Accident (Within Two Years): If your coverage has ended, but your accident date was within the past two years, let us know. We can help apply for a coverage extension, and once approved, you could be eligible for up to six free treatments.
  • Medical/Medication Details: Please bring a list of any medications or supplements you’re taking, as well as any relevant medical records to help us better understand your condition.
  • Light Meal: It’s generally best not to receive acupuncture (or other TCM treatments) on an empty stomach, unless instructed otherwise.
